Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra 2013
Nandadevi Raj Jat Yatra has been postponed for this year, the yatra will start in the next year from 28th Aug 2013.
This magnificient small town is next only to Prayagraj in its importance. It is situated at the confluence of rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi. Devprayag is the
birth place of Mother Ganges. The birth place of Bhagirathi is Gaumukh and that of Alaknanda is Alkapuri satopanth. These both rivers unite at Devprayag after flowing great distances from the beautiful mountains to give birth to Ganges.
Hindus offer Pindadan to their ancestors at the sangam (confluence) of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi at Devprayag. One should always be careful of the speed of waters of uniting river sistes and the uneven depth of water at sangam while taking a bath after pinda dan.
Over the years, the people of Devprayag, great scholars of Hiduism, have diversified their profession as per compulsions of near age.Literature,banking,tourism,engineering and technology trades are some modern day professions in which the younger generation is engaged. Devprayag is also the seat of Pandas (priest) of Badrinath dham.
Devprayag is 71 kms from Rishikesh and is famous for its other important items. A sage Deosharma has done his penance here and achieved a glimpse of God.After that this town is named after Deosharma.
It is believed that Lord Rama, the hero of Ramayana and his father King Dashratha,
passed here for a thousand years in purificatory exercises after killing Ravana and did penance here.

Raghunathji Temple - Raghunathji temple is one of the oldeast existing temple in India, which is eighty feet in height. Inside the temple is the residence of a beautiful Lord Vishnu (Ramchandraji) idol in black granite
. The temple of Raghunathji is made of huge stones with mixture of pulse, in a pyramid shape.
The holy temple(shrine) is dedicated to lord Rama, when he came back to Ayodhya after his victory over Lanka.
Around the main temple,there are also located Annapurna Devi temple, Hanuman temple, Shankaracharya temple and Garud temple.
Chandrabadani Temple - The temple of Chandrabadani is dedicated to the Goddes of power (Sati). There are some old statues and iron tridents outside of the temple. As per legends Goddess Sati accidently dropped her torso here.

Bhuvaneswari Temple - It is situated in Pundal village at Devprayag. It is dedicated to Goddes Bhuvneswari.

Sangam - It is the holy dip for devotees to relax in and it is customary to take dip before worshipping.
