Nandadevi Raj Jat Yatra has been postponed for this year, the yatra will start in the next year from 28th Aug 2013.
Mana is considered to be the last village touching Tibet border. It is full of caves. One of these caves is now called Vyas Gufa in which Rishi Ved Vyas Is suppose to compose Mahabharta. Inside this cave there is a marble statue of Rishi Vyas shown writing the epic, Mahabharata. The cave is under a huge slab of stone which because of its book like appearance is called Vyas Grantha (Pothi or book). It is belived that rishi Vyas dictated his famous epic to Ganesh.Near Vyas Gupha there is another cave called the Ganesh Gupha,where Lord Ganesha writing the Granth. The two caves are known as Ganesh Gufe and Vyas gufa.
Near the summit of the mountain on which the Vyas Gupha is located, there is this Muchukund Gupha at very high altitude. The puranic story goes that Kaliya Yawan was finished by the mere sight of Muchukund the hunter. Though this was all prearranged by Lord Krishna appeared before Muchukund to give him Darshan. Muchukund paid obeisance and greeted and worshipped the lotous feet of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna advised Muchukund tiengage in penance (tapashya). Lord Krishna also informed Muchukund that his next birth would be as a brahmin and that life of brahmin will bring him salvation. In this gupha Muchukund meditated and penanced.
On the out skirts of Mana villege these is a bridge over Saraswati. It is made of huge slab of stone, popularly known as Bheempul. When the Pandvas and Draupadi were on their way to swargarohan, it was Bheem's responsibility to get them across the rivers and other difficult places.
The saraswati River emerges from lateral glacier near Mana village.Touching Vyas Gufa,the river is lost in the Alaknanda at Keshav Prayag.
Keshav prayag is the confluence of rivers Saraswati and Alaknanda. This name is as originally mentioned in Skanda Purana.
On the west side of Mansodaveda Tirth, there is situated this magnificient tirth of Vasudhara. Not found anywhere in all the trilokas(Universe).(Skandpuran) In the majestic beauty of snow-clad mountains, there are Vasudhara falls 122 meters high. This is a captivating sight. These are at a distance of 8 kms from Badrinath and 3 kms from Mana villege.When the streams of water come tumblingdown,they are caught by winds and diffused into fine showers and soft puffs.The winds blow from different directions and showers spray all around.The main columns of soft puffs swing in and out with the winds.
The Alkapuri glaciers located at the base of Balkun Peaks. Its height is 6067 meters (19905 ft.) above m. s. l. This is arround 15 kms away from Sri Badrikashram. This is spread into two valleys leading to Satopanth and Gaumukh. From Satopanth side comes Alaknanda while from Gaumukh side there is the source of Bhagirathi. As per skanda purana, Ganga on descending from the coils of Shiva's hair was caught in the sumeru mountains (Narayan Parvat). Seven streams came out from sumwru. Out of these seven two are Alaknanda and Bhagirathi.
This temple is located on the right bank of alaknanda river. Once a year the main priest of Badrinath temple known as Rawal worship Mata- Murti and festival of prayer, havan and Bhoj is held.
These are seven steps of fabled mountain. it is believed that the Pandavas,after visiting Badrikashram,ascended to Heaven by climbing these snow steps. That is the reason the place is called swargarohan,ascent to Heaven. Swargarohini is as beautiful as one can describe about Heaven.
